It's with great sadness that I have to report that Carlos Walker, better known as Atlanta rapper Shawty Lo, has been killed in an automobile accident this morning on I-285 in Atlanta's Fulton County. Several sources broke the news on social media, specifically Twitter; Shawty Lo's manager, Johnny Cabell, being one of them who tweeted that the rapper had passed.
Initial reports have stated that the rapper was killed by a hit and run accident, but sources recently have stated that the White Audi that he was riding in jumped the guardrail on I-285 and rolled before hitting trees. Reports also state that the rapper was ejected from the vehicle, while two female passengers were transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Shawty Lo was an influential rapper in Atlanta who found the group D4L and who later was known for his solo singles, "Dey Know", "Dunn Dunn", "Foolish", and countless features and projects he has contributed to in his career. He was 40 years old at the time of his death and leaves behind eleven children and family who spoke nothing but highly of him. We should all keep the Atlanta rapper's family in our thoughts, taking into consideration that the family just recently lost Shawty Lo's father almost a week ago. I will be updating this story as the police and family receive more details.
